Executive summary

Freshsales is the sales CRM in the Freshworks suite — a NASDAQ-listed vendor (FRSH) founded in Chennai in 2010 that now serves more than 74,000 businesses worldwide. It positions itself deliberately below the enterprise CRMs: built-in phone, email and chat inside the CRM, AI-assisted lead scoring via Freddy AI, and a free tier for up to three users, with paid plans starting at $9 per user per month on annual billing.

For GCC buyers, the picture changed materially in June 2024, when Freshworks launched an AWS-powered data center in the UAE explicitly covering its Sales and Marketing products — which includes Freshsales. Combined with a web interface that officially supports Arabic with right-to-left (RTL) rendering, Freshsales is one of the few mid-market CRMs that can claim both regional hosting and an Arabic UI.

Our rating: 4.1/5. Freshsales earns its score on price-to-value, the UAE data residency option, and genuine Arabic RTL support. It loses points on reporting depth, per-feature caps (sequences, workflow actions), credit-card-only billing, and the absence of an in-Kingdom data center, which keeps Saudi buyers in cross-border-transfer territory under PDPL.

Where your data actually lives

Freshworks runs its SaaS products on AWS and lets customers choose a hosting region at signup. According to Freshworks’ own support documentation, the available locations are the United States, the EEA (Frankfurt), the UAE, India, and Australia. The UAE data center — announced on 27 June 2024 and powered by the AWS Middle East (UAE) region — serves customers across 72 MEA countries and, per the official press release, covers “Customer Service, IT, and Sales and Marketing” software. Freshsales falls squarely in that scope.

Two caveats matter for due diligence. First, region selection happens at account creation; if your team signed up before mid-2024, your tenancy may still sit in the US or EEA, and migration between regions requires contacting Freshworks support. Second, the official data-hosting URL referenced in Freshworks’ privacy notice (freshworks.com/privacy/data-hosting/) currently redirects to the general privacy notice — we could not verify a per-product hosting matrix from that official page as of August 2026, so confirm your product-region combination with Freshworks in writing before signing.

Security certifications

Freshworks’ privacy notice (effective March 2026) confirms certification to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension, and the Swiss-U.S. DPF. Its trust documentation cites ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, SOC 2 Type II, SOC 3, and PCI DSS v4.0. That is a credible baseline for GCC enterprise procurement, though note that PCI DSS applies to payment-handling components, not to the CRM as a whole.

PDPL analysis for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree M/19 of 2021, amended by M/148 of 2023) entered into force on 14 September 2023 and has been fully enforced since the compliance grace period expired on 14 September 2024. The regulator, SDAIA, published amended Data Transfer Regulations in 2024 that relaxed the original near-ban on cross-border transfers: transfers outside the Kingdom are now permitted where SDAIA has made an adequacy decision, or with appropriate safeguards such as SDAIA-issued standard contractual clauses (SCCs) or binding common rules, subject to a risk assessment. Penalties reach SAR 5 million per violation (doubled for repeat offences), and breaching the transfer rules specifically can carry up to one year’s imprisonment and/or a SAR 1 million fine.

What this means for a Saudi company evaluating Freshsales:

  • Hosting your Freshsales instance in the UAE region is still a cross-border transfer under PDPL, because the data leaves the Kingdom. The UAE is not (as of August 2026) on a published SDAIA adequacy list, so you need a documented safeguard: SDAIA SCCs or equivalent contractual clauses in your data processing agreement with Freshworks, plus a transfer risk assessment. Freshworks’ privacy notice confirms it uses Data Processing Addenda and Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers, which gives your legal team a workable contractual foundation — but the PDPL transfer basis is your obligation as the controller, not the vendor’s.
  • For UAE-based entities, the calculus is simpler: hosting in the UAE region keeps personal data onshore under the UAE federal PDPL, which is a straightforward residency win.
  • NDMO and sector rules (government data, NCA-regulated entities, SAMA-regulated financial institutions) may impose stricter in-Kingdom localization that no Freshworks region currently satisfies. If you are in a regulated Saudi sector, treat Freshsales as a non-starter for regulated datasets unless your compliance counsel signs off on the UAE-hosted arrangement.
  • Practical upside: compared with US- or EU-hosted CRMs, UAE hosting reduces latency for Gulf users, keeps data within a GCC jurisdiction with a functioning data protection regime, and simplifies the transfer risk assessment.

Compliance score: 4.0/5 — a genuine regional data center plus a full certification stack, discounted for the lack of a Saudi region and the need to assemble PDPL transfer documentation yourself.

Pricing in local currency

All figures below are list prices as of August 2026, per Freshworks’ official pricing page. Freshworks prices in USD; the SAR and AED figures in the table above are converted at the pegged rates (SAR 3.75, AED 3.6725 per USD) with local VAT added (15% in Saudi Arabia, 5% in the UAE).

The pricing strategy has four points worth understanding:

  1. A real free tier. Free covers up to 3 users with contact management, a kanban pipeline, and built-in chat/email/phone — usable for a founder or a two-rep team validating the tool. New accounts also get a 21-day trial of the fully loaded product before choosing a plan.
  2. Per-seat billing, no minimum seat count on self-serve plans. At $9/user/month (annual billing), Growth undercuts Zoho CRM’s Professional and dramatically undercuts HubSpot’s Sales Hub Professional ($100/seat/month). The catch: headline prices assume annual prepayment; monthly billing runs roughly 20–30% higher.
  3. Add-ons to model before you buy. Branded documents run $19/user, and Freddy AI Agent sessions are metered ($49 per 100 sessions beyond the included allotment). Built-in telephony is included as a feature but call minutes and phone numbers are billed separately as usage.
  4. Payment rails. Freshworks accepts Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover “across currencies” — GCC corporate cards work fine — but there is no local invoicing in SAR/AED, no mada, and no bank-transfer option outside US/Canada check payments. Finance teams that require local-currency invoicing will need to expense the USD charge or work through a regional Freshworks partner.

Pros & cons for GCC businesses

Pros

  • Arabic UI with RTL. Freshworks’ official support documentation lists Arabic (ar) among the agent interface languages for Freshsales Suite on all tiers, and confirms right-to-left support for Arabic and Hebrew. That puts Freshsales ahead of HubSpot (no Arabic UI) and on par with Zoho CRM for Arabic-speaking sales teams.
  • UAE data center covering Sales & Marketing products — the single biggest differentiator versus HubSpot and Pipedrive for residency-conscious buyers.
  • Built-in communications. Phone, email, and chat are native; for WhatsApp — the dominant B2B channel in the Gulf — Freshworks offers a WhatsApp Business integration through its Freshchat/Freshworks ecosystem, though you should validate the exact integration path (native vs. marketplace app) for your use case.
  • Price. A 10-rep team on Pro costs $390/month list — roughly what two HubSpot Professional seats cost.
  • Regional footprint. Freshworks runs MEA operations from Dubai, cites regional customers such as Magrabi, and works with local implementation partners across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Cons

  • Mobile app Arabic is unverified. The web agent interface supports Arabic, but Freshworks’ published mobile-app language list does not include Arabic (the app falls back to English). For field-sales teams in Saudi Arabia that live in the mobile app, this is a real gap — confirm current status with the vendor.
  • Reporting and automation ceilings. Reports are capped at 10 widgets, workflows at 5 actions per group, and sales sequences are limited per user (10 on Pro, 25 on Enterprise). Teams with complex, multi-touch sales motions will hit these limits.
  • No in-Kingdom hosting and no PDPL-specific documentation from the vendor; Saudi transfer compliance is your paperwork.
  • USD billing only, credit card only for the region — no SAR/AED invoicing or local payment methods.
  • Support timezone. Freshworks offers 24×5 support globally, but Arabic-language support coverage is not officially documented; we could not verify Arabic-language support SLAs from official sources as of August 2026.

Alternatives

Zoho CRM is the natural shortlist companion. Zoho matches Freshsales on Arabic UI support, and in January 2026 opened its own data centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as part of an AED 100 million UAE investment — giving it first-party (not AWS-dependent) regional hosting. Zoho’s suite breadth (Books with UAE VAT, People, Desk) suits companies that want one vendor for CRM plus back office. Freshsales counters with a more modern sales UI, stronger built-in telephony, and simpler per-seat pricing without Zoho’s edition maze.

HubSpot is the premium alternative. Its free CRM is more generous than Freshsales’ free tier and its marketing ecosystem is deeper, but there is no Arabic interface, hosting is limited to the US and EU (Frankfurt) — no Middle East region — and Sales Hub Professional at $100/seat/month is more than double Freshsales Pro. See our HubSpot PDPL review for the full compliance breakdown.

The short version: if Arabic UI plus regional hosting at the lowest credible price is the brief, Freshsales and Zoho are the two serious candidates; if marketing-led growth and ecosystem outweigh localization, HubSpot justifies its premium.

Getting started

Freshsales offers a 21-day trial of the full product with no credit card required, and the free plan remains available after the trial for up to three users. Our recommendation for GCC evaluators: start the trial, switch your profile language to Arabic to test the RTL interface with real deal data, and — before paying — open a support ticket to confirm your account is provisioned in the UAE region and to request the Data Processing Addendum your PDPL file needs. Use the button below to start your trial.
